I use many different mediums in my work such as watercolor, oil, drawing and colored pencils, printmaking and clay. Each idea and material manifests in its own individual style. I employ various surfaces and textures, such as canvas, wood panel and chine colle printmaking.
As a graduate student, I began to create a body of artwork focused on a local goat farmer, Noelie Houle. After spending years on her farm we developed a rich friendship. I painted her and her animals and wrote her real life story, which became a best-selling, award-winning book entitled "The Goat Lady." It is included in Houghton-Mifflin's SRA Reading Program, and in the "Philosophy for Children" book in the chapter entitled "Compassion" .
